Change a combination ladder’s layout

A hinged ladder may have several approved positions. Check the instructions for your exact model before unfolding it.

Check both sides of every joint

  1. First side. With everyone off the ladder, select a layout approved in the model manual. Check the lock as the manual describes.
  2. Opposite side. Verify the matching lock on the other rail. Repeat at every joint and after each layout change. The orange circles locate hinges only.

Match the layout to the manual

Find the model code and the manufacturer’s diagram for the intended position. Check any required stabilisers or accessories. A position shown in Ladder Studio is a design concept. Only use configurations listed for the physical model.

Change position on the ground

Clear the area and take tools off the rungs. With everyone off the ladder, follow the maker’s sequence for releasing and engaging the hinges. Check each locking point on both sides after every change.

Check the complete setup again

In A-frame mode, confirm the frame is fully open in its approved position. In leaning mode, check the angle, support and securing points. Follow the model’s markings for permitted standing levels and extension limits.
